It's mostly an improvised chord progression (and you obviously have a good ear for it!), with some melodic moments that feel more like harmonic accompaniments than parts of an actual melody. I think you should write a tune to go with this when you develop it. (Don't cheat and just do arpeggios!)

MrKimchi1 responds:

Thank you so much for the feedback! That's actually a reason why I really wanted to make a Orchestra version since I feel like the instruments in a Orchestra would really compliment each other. I rarely use a Arpeggiator unless I feel like it suits the song, in this case I don't feel like it would really fit with what I'm trying to achieve or present with this song.

I'm going to say that the drums sound ugly but the tune is so good.

LunarSpartan responds:

Thanks!

The 12 note is perfectly timed, you delay it just enough to make an impact. It seems so obvious but the whole piece is subtle and polished like this, every note works...

TheMightyApple responds:

Thank you really much, i'm flattered ^^

Oh my god, I'm so happy I've discovered your music, it's so feel-good T_T I'm having a field day

Sleepycoaster responds:

Well you're brightening my day too! =D

Perfect percussion, clean levels, this is the best possible result of the notes of pi :)))

Sleepycoaster responds:

Thanks, I'm glad someone liked it!

Listening to your other songs, I'm sure you'll disagree with me... But I think it IS possible to have too much bass. It feels all muffled, like I'm going deaf. I like the beat and the tune a lot.

AliceMako responds:

On the contrary i completely agree with you, one can have too much bass in their mix.

This "muffled" sound you mention though is something i actually put a fair amount of work in to achieve and i freely concede it's an acquired taste for most, i've got some harsher more digital sounding ones posted too which might be more to your liking.

Thanks for listening.

That opening really bowled me for some reason. I have no problems with this piece.

BOULLIE responds:

Sorry for the bowling

I love everything except the accordion because it sounds improvised and out of rhythm. I know it's not improvised because the synth after the accordion plays the same tune wonderfully. Before and after the accordion this is really tender-sounding, proper glitch music like they used to make on the Toytronic label - but I think maybe the accordion synth you used had too much attack to play a fast and intricate tune.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Many thanks for the comments, Joel.

I hear what you're saying about the accordion -- The attack is definitely a bit too strong. Toytronic, I don't think I've listened to many of the artists on that label. A few of them. . . Loess & Infinite Scale. I may have to dig into them.

The samples are alright, the drum beat is fine. It's cold and repetitive -- it doesn't do much except loop in slightly, insignficantly, different ways.

putzpie responds:

I was going for an ambient sort of low key beat on this one, but yeah I can dig what you're saying. I probably could've done some more interesting things with it.

Thanks man.

This feels legitimate, although the consistent drum beat dispells any tension. That means it sounds good but it doesn't fit your scenario.

Cadrean responds:

Thanks for the review!

You make a good point about the drum beat, I feel as though it would have added a bit more depth if I'd changed it a bit more towards being percussion than a beat, or perhaps even left it out in some parts.

I make acid jazz, glitch, minimal, and house music. My biggest influences are Psychotropic, Rei Harakami and Luke Vibert.
